Goodbye Ralph Stanley

We would like to send our condolences to the Stanley family on the passing of one of the founding fathers of our music, the great Ralph Stanley. We have been so blessed to play festivals with him, and to record a few songs with him in years past. He leaves with us the true lonesome sound of Bluegrass. His recordings are a textbook for our genre, but no one could truly emulate what he did.  Whether with his brother Carter, or his years with his band after Carter’s death, he made timeless, classic Bluegrass music.

Balsam Range owes a great deal to Ralph Stanley, and we are grateful for the times we had with him.

We would love to have seen the Stanley Brothers reunion tonight!
