New music and a new video!

We've been busy in the studio this spring when we weren't on the road visiting with y'all, and are ready to share a new song with you! Some of you may have heard it live, we've been playing it out for a few months now.

Howdy folks! We've been busy in the studio this spring when we weren't on the road visiting with y'all, and are ready to share a new song with you! Some of you may have heard it live, we've been playing it out for a few months now.

‘The Girl Who Invented The Wheel’ is a clever twist of a common song subject in any genre.  Lost love, relationship struggles and breakups. The characters in this tale could be anyone but as a listener you quickly develop an understanding that she is a master in the art of deception and heartbreak. A great songwriter and song can pull listeners into the story to the point they feel they are living it. Adam Wright is equally as masterful in creating such engaging lyrics as the characters he has created seem to be.”-Buddy

The single is available in all digital platforms HERE

We had a blast shooting a really fun video for the song! You can watch it HERE

As always,  your support and friendship means everything.

Marc, Tim, Buddy, Caleb and Darren and Team BR

New Music!

So excited y'all! We will soon bring our latest project with Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble, “Mountain Overture,” to the stage at MerleFest, one of the country’s premier music festivals, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

So excited y'all! We will soon bring our latest project with Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble“Mountain Overture,” to the stage at MerleFest, one of the country’s premier music festivals, in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

We think MerleFest a fitting place for us and the Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble to showcase  “Mountain Overture” collaboration in a live setting. We sure hope you'll join us

“Mountain Overture,” from Mountain Home Music Company, takes the band’s most-loved songs and elevates them, pulling together the rustic and symphonic for a profound effect. The music scores, arranged by Wes Funderburk and Shelley Washington lift the heartfelt tale of “Trains I Missed” (IBMA 2011 Song of the Year), intensify the sentimental longing of “Blue Mountain,” and draw out the melancholia of “I Hear the Mountains.”

Balsam Range and Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble will perform  Friday, April 27 — the day “Mountain Overture” is released — on the Watson Stage. Fans can get a preview of what they will hear on Thursday, April 26 when “Mountain Overture” streams at The Bluegrass Situation ->HERE

Find more information about the festival HERE and pre-order “Mountain Overture”HERE.

The Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble is a 14-piece version of the typically 36-piece Atlanta Pops Orchestra. This condensed ensemble was established during the 70th anniversary season of the Atlanta Pops Orchestra in 2015, in order to take advantage of new opportunities for the Atlanta Pops to perform in situations that are more conducive to a smaller group of musicians. These have included collaborative performances with Zac Brown Band's founding member John Driskell Hopkins at nightclubs, restaurants and churches, with the Joe Gransden Big Band at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center 2017 Holiday Gala in Atlanta, GA and with Balsam Range at the 2016 & 2017 Art of Music Festivals in Lake Junaluska, NC. The Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble is comprised of string, woodwind, brass and rhythm section musicians from the Atlanta Pops Orchestra.

Can't wait to see everyone on the road this summer! Check out our tour dates!!

We love y'all!

We are playing a few brand new (to us) festivals, and are tickled to be returning to some of our favorites, too.

Happy March!

The warmer weather is a nice reminder that festival season is right around the corner! We are playing a few brand new (to us) festivals, and are tickled to be returning to some of our favorites, too. Full tour and ticket links are updated right here on the TOUR PAGE. We've enjoyed quite a few sell-out shows all over the country this winter! We are truly thankful for each of you that come out to see us. It sounds cliché, but you're the reason we are able to make this music that we love so dearly! So thank YOU!

EMily Butler photography

was gracious enough to take time out of her rock-star photography schedule to come see some bluegrass at

The Red Clay Music Foundry

in Georgia for our sold out show last week! Hop joined us on a few tunes too! Can you tell we have fun with him?

Check her out, she does amazing work!

  • Darren has been hard at work this winter writing and recording his first all instrumental mandolin record! This is something he has wanted to do for a while, and he is pretty excited about it! If you follow him on Facebook, (bless your heart) you've probably seen the updates from him as the project has progressed. Be on the look out for that dandy to release soon!

  • We are excited to announce that Balsam Range will also be putting out a new project in 2018, a collection of some of our favorite BR songs in a collaboration with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra! Those of you that have attended the Balsam Range Art Of Music Festival, have heard the Pops ensemble and Balsam Range together live. We think it's a great unique combination, so we've joined forces once again to put out an album together! Lots more info on this as it comes together. *Special shout out to our pal, Hop (John Driskell Hopkins) for recording this project with us in his amazing studio, Brighter Shade Studios in Atlanta, GA.

  • March and April dates. See y'all on the road soon!Buddy, Marc, Tim, Darren and Caleb

Merry Christmas!

It is available here on our website for just $10 (holiday shipping guaranteed if ordered by 12/18!)or you can get a digital download

It's a wrap!

We set our sights to outdo the first festival, and by golly, we may have succeeded! Near sell out crowd Friday, and sell out on Saturday! The Stuart Auditorium was packed with almost 2,000 friends. If only for a few hours, everyone came together for the music. From the hilarity of Mike Snider, to the awe inspiring talents of Bryan Sutton, Noam Pikelny, Shawn Lane, Aubrey Haynie and Barry Bales. From the brilliance of Darrell Scott, to the warm holiday collaborative sounds of Balsam Range with The Atlanta Pops Orchestra Ensemble, (to mention a few), the evening concerts transpired into a magical event. On Saturday afternoon, folks were buzzing all over the Terrace Hotel going in and out of workshops, learning from their musical idols, laughing with the boys of Balsam Range, and mingling and jamming together. The weekend was such a great time of fellowship, if you didn't join us this year, consider it for 2018.

Planning for 2018 starts now! Save the date: November 30-December 1

It's (almost) Christmas Time!

Our first Christmas project, "It's Christmas Time" released today!

We are so excited to bring it to you! For quite a while, we've wanted to bring you something that is different from the normal recordings that we release. We really strived to make a recording that was a real Christmas record.

We are joined on this EP by The Nashville Recording Orchestra, incredible players who play on lots of A-List records. Cody McVey wrote the orchestral parts for us, and he directed the string recording sessions. The result is something that we are very proud of!

We hope you enjoy this special project, and we hope that it can be a part of your holidays for many years to come!

You can get it in the website store, or digitally

Several number-ones this summer!

We are excited to announce our single "Blue Collar Dreams" from our newest release, "Mountain Voodoo" is still flying high on the bluegrass charts! After 3 consecutive months at number one on the Bluegrass Today charts earlier this year, we are humbled that is number one on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts for the months of June, and also July!

Our newest single, "Something 'Bout That Suitcase" was number one on "Bluegrass Today charts for the month of June! We asked our fans to send us their travel photos for a video for 'Suitcase', and together, we made a beautiful tribute to the song, dedicated to the fans! Watch it here:

Also, we just learned that the album we were honored to be a part of entitled "Goldenhair" by famed composer Brian Byrne is now number one on Billboard World Music Charts in Ireland!  Ain't we fancy =)

We couldn't (nor would we want to) do it without the support of our fans! We love y'all!!

see you on the road,

Buddy, Tim, Marc, Caleb and Darren

Balsam Range 10 Year Anniversary Celebration!

On Saturday, March 4 we gathered at the Colonial Theatre in Canton, NC to celebrate our tenth year of playing music together...our bandiversary! What a night it was. We did songs from each of our six albums, what we could remember anyway! It was so gratifying to see so many people in the crowd  that have been with us the entire ten years. Family and friends that mean so much to us. Also, new friends that have come on board with us along the way. It was a great night of stories and songs.

We have a lot of people to thank for the fact that we are still going after a decade of music.

-Mickey Gamble and our Mountain Home family for believing in our band even before we had a name for it.

-Mike Drudge at Class Act Entertainment for helping us get our music across the country, and soon, the world.

-John Holder, our sound engineer, for unparalleled excellence.

-Mandy Tenery, our tour manager, for keeping up with where we are supposed to be!

Most importantly, our wives. Hope, Carla, Anita, Jennifer, and Rachel. Thank you for having the strength to manage everything while we are away. None of these things would have happened without you!

To our kids, we love you all so much! Talking to you is the best part of any trip.

Thank you to all of you that come to hear us, buy our music, and play us on your stations. We hope that it has been worth it for you. It sure has been for us!

God bless,

Balsam Range

We hope you enjoy this fun mini-documentary about the aforementioned evening created by our friend, Becky Seymour with Shmeckie Media.
